Your Own Key to Success

I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody. ~Bill Cosby

Be your own temperature check.  Are you successful?  What does success mean to you?  If you are not sure of your answers to the questions, take a few minutes to consider them.  Let your goals be yours and not set by others.  When you try to live up to other people's expectations you divide yourself.  This division will pull you in many directions and make you less effective at each task at hand.  This will also keep you focused primarily on the external.  It can cause feelings of inadequacy, letting others down and being overwhelmed.  You cannot please everyone as each person's perspective is different.  Go inward in your search for affirmation.  Clearly defining your goals will give you a way to gauge your progress.  It will enable you to attract like minded people whose ideas and measures of success will be more aligned with yours.  You will find yourself celebrating more accomplishments and milestones AND be able to share in that success with the people around you.  Create your own key to success.
