Poems are beautiful pieces of language that roll off of the tongue. They appeal to our need for pattern and structure. At first we appreciate the package- the wording, the syntax. From the second line we are imbibing knowledge and emotion. By the end of the poem we have had an experience. Go find a poem to read. Change your state of mind, expand your horizons. Do not underestimate the power of the poem.
