Refocus, Often

For every action there is an equal and opposite distraction.
~Unknown

Your focus is one of the hardest things to hold on to.  You have your goal, you set your intention, you start to execute, then bam!  Here come the distractions.  The phone rings, you smell food cooking, see that pile of laundry over in the corner, someone else has a question, here comes an email.  Even without the external distractions, you will find your mind wandering to other topics.  You may not be able to control those distractions, but you can control your reaction to them.  Trying to shut out or ignore them will only increase the volume.  Instead, acknowledge those distractions and let them go.  Accept that they will be there and train your mind to focus despite whatever else is going on.  Be okay with the fact that you will have to reel yourself in and refocus, often.
