Two Ears, One Mouth

We have two ears and one mouth so that we can listen twice as much as we speak.
~Epictetus

A lot of work goes into communication.  We choose our words carefully.  We plan the right venue.  Many times in the moment we find ourselves speaking louder, faster or repeating ourselves in our desire to get a point across.  Most issues in communication are not with what we are saying.  The problem usually lies in what we are not hearing.  Next time you find yourself in a challenging conversation, remember; two ears, one mouth.
